- Emulsify a small amount in palms and apply to dry hair. Work through and shape with fingers.

Ask ModaHow is RICA Grooming Clay different from RICA Shape Matt Putty?
Both deliver a matte finish. Grooming Clay has more natural movement and flexibility — it holds but can be touched and adjusted. Shape Matt Putty is firmer and humidity-resistant — it sets and stays regardless of conditions. If your lifestyle involves humidity, outdoor activity or long hours, the putty holds better. If you want to be able to reshape through the day, the clay has more workability.
Do I apply RICA Grooming Clay to wet or dry hair?
Dry hair gives the best matte result. On damp hair, the clay distributes differently and the finish is heavier with reduced matte effect. Style your hair first, let it dry completely, then apply the clay.
How much RICA Grooming Clay do I need?
A small pea-sized amount for short hair, slightly more for medium lengths. Warm in the palms for 15 to 20 seconds before applying — cold clay grabs unevenly. Start with less and add; too much on the first pass is harder to distribute than a second small amount.
Will RICA Grooming Clay cause my hair to go stiff?
No — it is specifically designed for natural movement, not rigidity. The matte finish holds the shape but the hair remains touchable. If it goes stiff, too much was used — reduce the amount on the next application.
Does RICA Grooming Clay wash out easily?
Yes — it is water-soluble and rinses out with regular shampoo. No heavy buildup with daily use.
