The client who switched to Everlasting Colour Wash but is still using her old conditioner and notices the system is not performing as well as she expected. The conditioner is the gap — her existing formula does not have the ILLUMINATE Complex to reinforce colour fastness during the conditioning step. We add the Rinse and the full benefit of the system comes through. Everlasting Colour Rinse is the conditioning half of the Everlasting Colour system — designed from the beginning to work with the Wash and Leave-In as a layered approach to colour protection. No — it does more than shine. ILLUMINATE Complex improves colour fastness, which means it actively reduces how much colour washes out during the conditioning step. Shine is a side benefit. The primary function is keeping colour molecules in the hair shaft for longer, which is what makes the Rinse part of a colour-protection system rather than just a standard conditioner.
Do I need the conditioner if I am already using the Everlasting Colour shampoo?
Yes — the system works better together. The Wash handles mineral chelation and initial cuticle closing. The Rinse adds the ILLUMINATE Complex for colour fastness during conditioning and Hydrolyzed Rice Protein for strength. Using both creates a more complete barrier — the complexes are designed to layer across both steps.
Will this conditioner weigh down fine colour-treated hair?
No — weightlessness is a stated benefit of the formula. Apply from mid-lengths to ends and keep off the root for very fine hair. The Rinse is designed to protect without heaviness, which is why it works across all hair types including fine colour-treated hair. If you notice any weight, reduce the amount rather than changing products.
Is 1 to 2 minutes long enough, or should I leave Everlasting Colour Rinse in longer for better results?
No — 1 to 2 minutes is the right window per Kevin Murphy. The ILLUMINATE Complex and Hydrolyzed Rice Protein need that contact time to deposit on the hair shaft, but longer does not improve the result. Rinse thoroughly afterwards so the CHROMATIC Complex and acidic pH can seal the cuticle surface properly.
Is this conditioner safe for curly or coily colour-treated hair?
Yes — Kevin Murphy specifically recommends Everlasting Colour Rinse as an extra detangling step for curly and coily hair in a salon context, particularly after chemical services. The Hydrolyzed Rice Protein improves elasticity and the formula provides enough slip for detangling without disrupting curl pattern. It works within the Everlasting Colour system on textured hair the same as any other colour-treated type.
