No — the shampoo alone delivers toning. The conditioner extends it through the second step, particularly at the ends where brassiness accumulates most. For clients with significant or persistent brassiness, both products together give more thorough and consistent results.
My ends are more brassy than my roots. Which product helps most?
Yes — the conditioner is your friend here. It's applied specifically to mid-lengths and ends, which is exactly where old or faded balayage tends to go warmest. The shampoo handles the overall tone; the conditioner targets the ends.
Can I use Bust Your Brass Conditioner on my scalp?
No — mid-lengths to ends only. The toning pigment at the scalp isn't effective and conditioner at the root causes flatness and buildup regardless of whether it contains pigment.
How long should I leave Bust Your Brass Conditioner on?
Yes — 2–3 minutes for regular toning maintenance. For brassy ends needing more correction, 5 minutes gives more pigment deposit. Check the ends after rinsing — if they're still warm, extend the time on your next wash.
Does Bust Your Brass Conditioner have bond repair like the shampoo?
Yes — the conditioner also contains bond repair actives alongside the toning pigment. Toning and structural repair compound through both steps of the wash, which is the advantage of the Bust Your Brass system over a toning-only purple product.
