Variant: New Formulation with PUMPS

The current LOVE SMOOTHING formula, updated as part of Davines' Essentials 2.0 programme. The hero ingredient is now Minuta Olive Extract (Slow Food Presidium) — sourced from Mr. Carmelo Messina's farm in Ficarra, Messina, Sicily. The Minuta olive is an ancient variety prized for its high concentration of fatty acids and Vitamin E; the extract nourishes, softens, and boosts shine and elasticity specifically for frizzy or coarse hair.

The shampoo cleanses gently with a soft creamy foam, taming unruly hair for a sleek, smooth finish. The conditioner smooths and conditions with the same Minuta Olive active — leave 2–5 minutes, comb through, rinse thoroughly. Scent: radiant harmony of orange blossom and pink grapefruit on a floral heart with a musky base — distinctly different from the original.

Which Formulation Is Right for You?

  • Choose Original Formulation if you are a long-time LOVE SMOOTHING client who prefers the Annurca Apple formula and wants to stock up before it is gone. Final clearance — no restock.
  • Choose New Formulation if you are new to LOVE SMOOTHING, or if you want the current Minuta Olive formula with updated Slow Food Presidium sourcing. This is the formula Davines is producing going forward.

Both formulas target the same hair concern: coarse, frizzy, or unruly hair that needs smoothing, anti-frizz control, softness, and shine. Both are sulphate-free, paraben-free, and vegan. How To Use

  1. LOVE SMOOTHING Shampoo : Apply to wet hair. Massage gently from scalp through lengths. Rinse. Repeat if needed.
  2. LOVE SMOOTHING Conditioner — New Formulation: Apply to damp hair after shampooing, mid-lengths to ends. Comb through. Leave 2–5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Davines is updating the full Essential Haircare range under the Essentials 2.0 programme, transitioning to Slow Food Presidium ingredient sourcing with fully traceable supply chains. LOVE SMOOTHING moves from Annurca Apple (Campania) to Minuta Olive (Ficarra, Sicily) as the hero active. The new formula is the permanent replacement — the original is a final clearance.
Minuta olive is a heritage olive variety grown in Ficarra, Messina, Sicily — part of Italy's Slow Food Presidia, which protects traditional agricultural varieties and supports farming communities. Mr. Carmelo Messina's farm is the traceable source. The Minuta olive extract is notably rich in fatty acids and Vitamin E — the fatty acids deliver the nourishing and cuticle-smoothing anti-frizz action, and the Vitamin E provides antioxidant protection. Davines chose it as the LOVE SMOOTHING hero ingredient for the same reason it chose Annurca Apple before it: a Slow Food Presidium ingredient with documented efficacy for frizzy and coarse hair.
It depends on the hair goal. LOVE SMOOTHING is the correct system when the goal is to tame, smooth, and reduce frizz — to make hair sleeker and more controlled. If the hair is wavy or curly and the goal is definition, hydration, and curl enhancement rather than smoothing, LOVE CURL is the better system. For wavy or curly hair where frizz control is the primary concern and the client wants their hair to be smoother rather than more defined, LOVE SMOOTHING works.
Yes — the Davines 1000ml pump fits the LOVE SMOOTHING 1L bottles for both the original and new formulations. The New Formulation variant includes pumps. The Original Formulation variants come with or without pumps — select accordingly. The Essentials 2.0 Pump (for the new formula bottles) and the standard OI/Essential Haircare pump (for the original formula bottles) are both sold separately in the Moda catalogue if you need additional pumps.
