Ask ModaI only have a bit of grey at the temples. Will No. 104 turn my darker hair purple?
No. The violet pigment in No. 104 is specifically designed to counteract yellow and brassy tones in white, grey, and bleached hair — it does not deposit visibly on dark natural hair. You can use No. 104 on blended grey without affecting the darker sections.
How often should I use No. 104 versus a regular daily shampoo?
No. 104 works best as a weekly or twice-weekly toning shampoo. Most clients use No. 101 Normalizing or No. 103 Hydrating for day-to-day washing and introduce No. 104 on their weekly wash day for toning. Frequency can be increased if brassiness is persistent.
I leave it on for a long time and my hair goes slightly purple-grey. Is that normal and does it wash out?
Yes, that's normal and temporary. The violet pigment deposits more intensely with extended contact time — longer than 3-5 minutes on very porous or bleached hair can create a stronger tonal shift. It washes out with the next regular shampoo. Reduce contact time to 1-2 minutes for a more subtle result.
My barber uses a different brand toning shampoo on me. What makes No. 104 different?
