Ask ModaWhy does rinsing with cool water matter?
Warm water keeps the hair cuticle open. Cool water causes it to contract and close. With a smoothing conditioner, the cool rinse closes the cuticle around the smoothing agents and locks them in place — which is what makes the effect last through the day rather than wearing off within an hour.
Can I use this if my hair is fine and frizzy?
Yes — apply only through mid-lengths and ends and avoid the scalp. Fine hair benefits from smoothing at the lengths where frizz is visible, not at the root where conditioner causes flatness. The Mane Tamer formula is designed to be lightweight enough for fine hair.
My hair is very coarse and resistant. Will Mane Tamer be enough or do I need Lockdown?
Start with the Mane Tamer Shampoo and Conditioner system. If after two to three weeks you still need more smoothing, add Lockdown Smoothing Treatment once a week in place of the conditioner. Most clients with moderately coarse or wavy hair find the Mane Tamer system is enough. Very coarse or resistant texture usually needs both.
How long should I leave it on?
Three to five minutes. The smoothing polymers and emollients need time to bond to the cuticle surface. Rinsing at 60 seconds gives barely more than a surface coating.
Which size should I buy?
The 30 ml for a trial. The 300 ml for regular use. The 1000 ml for frequent washers or anyone wanting the best cost per wash.
