Not necessarily — but if your colour is still going brassy faster than you would like, this is the first thing to add. Using both doubles the toning per wash. Clients who find the conditioner alone is not holding tone long enough almost always see a noticeable difference when they add the shampoo.
Is this the same as a purple shampoo, or is it different?
It functions similarly — both deposit cool pigment during lathering — but Fabuloso is significantly more concentrated than most purple shampoos. It is also designed to work as part of a full toning system with the conditioner and mist, rather than as a standalone product.
How long do I need to leave it on to see a toning effect?
Sixty to ninety seconds gives a noticeable result on most blonde hair. Leave it two to three minutes for a stronger reset. Because it is also cleaning your hair while it tones, there is an upper limit — more than five minutes is unnecessary and will not improve the result further.
Will this shampoo dry out my lightened hair?
No — when followed by Fabuloso Conditioner, the hair feels soft and smooth. Using the shampoo without a conditioner step would leave lightened hair feeling drier, so always pair it with the conditioner for the best feel and finish.
Should I use this every wash or just once a week?
Every wash if your tone fades quickly. The pigment in this shampoo fades between washes, so consistent use is what maintains the result. If your colour holds well, every other wash alongside Fabuloso Conditioner every wash is a reasonable middle ground.
