How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Shampoo and towel-dry.
- Wear gloves. Apply with a brush, distributing evenly and combing through to the ends.
- Leave on 10-20 minutes depending on desired red intensity.
- Emulsify, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.
- Colour deposit fades out completely after about 6 washes.

Ask ModaI have deep auburn hair and it fades really fast. How often should I use Red Lava Mask?
Once or twice a week is ideal for fast-fading red. In the first two weeks after a colour service, use it twice a week to set the colour and reduce initial fade. After that, once a week is enough for most clients. Red pigment rinses out fastest right after a colour service — that's when maintenance matters most.
How is Red Lava Mask different from Red Ocher Mask? Which one should I use?
Red Lava is for deep red, auburn, and burgundy — hair that is fully, richly red. Red Ocher is for lighter copper blonde and strawberry highlights. If your hair is a vivid or dark red, Red Lava. If it's copper-toned or lighter, Red Ocher.
Will RICA Cromearth Red Lava Mask stain everything? I've had bad experiences with red hair masks.
It can — red mineral pigment is one of the most staining. Use a dark towel, wear gloves during application, and rinse your shower immediately. Avoid contact with fabric surfaces during processing time. The mask rinses cleanly from hair itself; the issue is other surfaces. Take those precautions and it's manageable.
Can I use Red Lava Mask on natural, undyed auburn or red hair?
Yes — natural red and auburn hair also fades from sun exposure and washing, especially in summer. Red Lava can enhance and deepen natural red tones. The deposit is usually more subtle on uncoloured hair than on bleached or lightened bases, but it will add visible richness and shine.
I've been told to avoid heat after using colour-refresh masks. Does that apply to Red Lava?
Not specifically — but rinsing with cool water at the end helps seal the cuticle and lock in the deposit, which is the equivalent advice. Using a heat protectant before blow-drying will help preserve the vibrancy regardless of which colour-refresh mask you use.
