Low shampoo refers to a gentle, low-foam cleansing formula that cleanses the hair without the aggressive stripping of traditional high-lather shampoos. The creamy texture and low-suds lather mean it conditions as it cleanses. It is not dry-shampoo — it is a water-rinse shampoo with a gentler surfactant system.
Is RICA Opuntia Oil Low Shampoo suitable for fine hair?
Yes, but with technique. Use a small amount and rinse very thoroughly. The softening ingredients in the formula are light enough for fine hair, but the conditioners in the shampoo mean any product left in from incomplete rinsing will feel heavy. Rinse longer than you think necessary.
Can I use RICA Opuntia Oil Low Shampoo on colour-treated hair?
Yes — the gentle formula is colour-safe. The Opuntia oil-based system cleanses without stripping colour, and the Vitamin E content provides some antioxidant protection against colour fade from oxidative stress.
Is there a point to buying the 1000ml if I am the only one using it?
Yes if you use it regularly — the per-wash cost on the litre is significantly better than the 250ml. If you wash your hair every two to three days, a 1000ml will last six months or more and the saving is substantial.
What is prickly pear/Opuntia oil and why is it good for hair?
Prickly pear oil is extracted from the seeds of the Opuntia cactus — native to Sicily. It is exceptionally rich in linoleic acid and Vitamin E, two ingredients that nourish the hair fibre, improve elasticity and add shine. It is lightweight for an oil, which means it absorbs into the hair rather than coating it. Rica built their entire Opuntia line around this hero ingredient.
