Why we like it
The Moda Team Review
The Rica Softening Body Scrub is the prep step that makes every subsequent treatment perform better. Sugar granules dissolve gently as they work, while volcanic sand from Mt. Etna delivers the slightly deeper exfoliation that clears dead skin and buildup. For waxing clients, this is the clear-surface prep that gives wax the cleanest possible contact.
Moda
What’s inside — and why it’s there
The ingredients worth knowing.
- Sugar Granules — water-soluble mechanical exfoliants that dissolve progressively during application, making them gentler than synthetic beads or coarse grains. Volcanic Sand from Mt. Etna — fine mineral particles with a slightly coarser texture, delivering deeper mechanical exfoliation without irritating the skin. Opuntia Extract — prickly pear cactus-derived calming and toning active.

How to use
Use it the way we would.

Moda stylist tipUse 24–48 hours before a waxing appointment — never immediately before. This gives the skin time to recover and present cleanly for the wax service.

Questions? We get them.
Good to know.
The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.
Ask ModaHow long before a waxing appointment should I use this scrub?
Yes — 24 to 48 hours before is the ideal window. Using it the day before gives the skin time to settle before the wax service and removes the dead skin layer that can interfere with wax adhesion. Never use it immediately before a wax appointment.
Is the Rica Softening Body Scrub gentle enough for regular weekly use?
Yes — the sugar granules are water-soluble and dissolve as you work, making this gentler than scrubs with synthetic beads or coarse grains. Weekly use is appropriate for most skin types. For sensitive skin, start with every two weeks and assess your skin's response.
What does the volcanic sand from Mt. Etna actually do differently from the sugar granules?
Yes — the two work together at different depths. Sugar granules provide a gentler surface exfoliation and dissolve as they work. Volcanic sand is slightly coarser and provides a deeper mechanical exfoliation that clears stubborn buildup and dead skin more thoroughly. The combination is more effective than either alone.
Should I use this scrub before applying self-tanner?
Yes — exfoliating before self-tanner is one of the most important prep steps for an even result. Dead skin cells absorb self-tanner unevenly and fade at different rates. The Rica Softening Body Scrub removes that layer, giving the tanner a clean, even surface to develop on.
Can I use Rica Softening Body Scrub on my face?
No — this is formulated for the body. The volcanic sand particles are too coarse for facial skin. For face exfoliation, use a product specifically formulated for the thinner, more sensitive skin on the face.
