The Moda Team Review
Most shampoos clean the hair. The HOG Silkening Chelating Shampoo does something more specific: it removes the mineral deposits and hard water residue that accumulate on blonde and lightened hair and dull the tone over time, while simultaneously delivering Jagua Blue Extract to balance warmth without the over-toning risk that comes with aggressive violet pigment formulas. It's the difference between a shampoo that fights brassiness aggressively and one that simply keeps blonde looking fresh and balanced, wash after wash.
The distinctive indigo colour of this shampoo is not cosmetic branding β it's Genipa Americana (Jagua) fruit extract, sustainably sourced in Colombia, doing an actual job: depositing a plant-based pigment that counteracts warmth in the blonde spectrum, across both cool and warm shades, without leaving the grey-violet cast that over-toned hair gets from heavy purple formulas. That same Jagua Blue runs through the HOG Rich Conditioner, which is why both products share that distinctive colour.
Why Moda Carries This
Davines is the only professional haircare line we carry at Moda. Every client gets Davines at the shampoo bowl, in colour services, and throughout treatments β we are not a multi-brand salon that stocks Davines alongside five other lines. We chose Davines because their commitment to sustainable farming aligns with our values as parents, and because the level of investment they put into education mirrors what we expect of ourselves. Heart of Glass is the line we reach for every time a blonde client sits down at the Moda sink. We have used it long enough to know exactly what it does and exactly who it is for.
Key Active Ingredients
-
Jagua Blue Extract (Genipa Americana, Colombia): A natural indigo extract from the Jagua fruit, sustainably sourced in Colombia and processed without synthetic dyes. Provides tonal balancing across warm and cool blonde shades without chromatic overload, plus shine enhancement and protection against environmental stressors.
-
Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Extract: Film-forming botanical extract that smooths the cuticle and contributes softness and moisture without silicone build-up.
-
Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Soybean Oil, Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Oil: Antioxidant and nourishing complex that supports hair health and adds luminosity.
Moda Pro Tip
The chelating action means this shampoo is particularly effective after clients have been swimming, or if their water at home is hard. We recommend a second application if there is noticeable mineral buildup to clear β the first application always lathers less on hair with heavy residue, and the second pass is where the real cleanse happens. Apply to scalp and damp hair, not soaking wet: too much water dilutes the product before it has a chance to work.
Not the Right Fit If...
Not ideal for extremely dry, very coarse, or actively frizzy hair that needs heavy moisture at the cleanse step β the chelating formula is gentle but prioritises tone clarity and mineral removal over intense conditioning. Those clients do better with a richer Davines shampoo like NOUNOU or MOMO in the cleanse step, then add the HOG Rich Conditioner as the tonal correction step after.
How To Use
- Apply to scalp and damp hair, massaging gently.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Repeat if hair has noticeable mineral buildup or the first lather is poor.
- Follow with HOG Rich Conditioner or HOG Instant Bonding Glow.
