Yes — rice starch absorbs oil without heavy or chalky residue, and the aerosol delivers it as a fine, even mist rather than a thick white cloud. The result is a dry shampoo that actually looks clean rather than just coated. It consistently outperforms most of the dry shampoos at its price point.
Will Perk Up leave a white cast on dark hair?
No — if applied correctly. Hold 20–30cm from roots and wait 30–60 seconds before massaging in. Spraying too close or rubbing immediately creates the white cast. Distance and wait time are the two things that make the most difference on dark hair.
How often can I use Perk Up before I need to actually wash?
Yes — 2–3 uses between washes is practical for most hair types. Buildup does accumulate with extended use, so follow with Amika Reset Clarifying Shampoo every few weeks to remove what regular shampoo leaves behind.
Should I apply Perk Up in the morning or the night before?
Yes — applying the night before is the technique that makes the biggest difference. The rice starch absorbs oil through the night rather than sitting on top of it. Hair looks and feels cleaner in the morning than applying fresh and going straight out.
How is Perk Up different from Perk Up Plus and Perk Up Ultra?
Yes — they escalate in oil absorption strength. Original Perk Up is the everyday formula for normal scalp types. Plus has higher-concentration actives and lasts longer between refresh applications. Ultra is the most intensive, designed for oily scalp types who go through the original quickly.
