The Moda Team Review
Soulfood is the most universally useful mask in Amika’s range — works across almost every hair type that isn’t specifically repair-focused. Clients buy it once, use it, and come back for it.

The client on the Normcore system who notices their hair feels great right after washing but a bit flat by mid-week. Adding Soulfood once a week — swapping out conditioner on hair wash day — extends that freshly-washed softness noticeably further into the week. Amika was founded in Brooklyn in 2007 around the idea that great haircare should be accessible and work for everyone. B-Corp certified, up to 90% post-consumer recycled packaging. Soulfood is one of their longest-standing formulas — a product that built significant word-of-mouth loyalty.

Sea buckthorn helps nourish and support shine, softness, and manageability. Shea butter and jojoba seed oil help moisturize and soften the hair.
How to use
Use it the way we would.
- After shampooing, squeeze excess water from hair. Apply mid-lengths to ends. Leave 3-10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and style as usual.
Moda stylist tipSqueeze excess water out of hair before applying — the single biggest thing that improves mask results. Damp hair absorbs; saturated hair dilutes.

Questions? We get them.
Good to know.
The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.
Ask ModaIs Soulfood a weekly mask or can I use it every wash?
Yes — weekly is the recommended use. Soulfood replaces your regular conditioner once a week for a deeper treatment. Daily use may over-soften or add too much weight, especially on fine hair. On other wash days, use your regular conditioner.
How long should I leave Soulfood on?
Yes — a minimum of 5 minutes for the standard nourishing benefit. For very dry or course hair, leaving it on for 10–15 minutes under a shower cap intensifies the softening result.
My hair isn't damaged — it's just really dry and dull. Will Soulfood actually help?
Yes — Soulfood is exactly the right product for hair that is structurally fine but dry and lacking softness. Sea buckthorn and grape seed oil nourish the hair fibre and improve gloss without the bond-repair focus of a damage-targeted mask.
Does Soulfood work on fine hair?
Yes — with careful application. Apply to mid-lengths and ends only, stay well away from the root, and rinse thoroughly. On very fine hair that goes flat easily, use a smaller amount and reduce frequency to every two weeks if needed.
Is Soulfood Mask or The Kure Intense Mask better for bleached hair?
No — for bleached hair, The Kure Intense Mask is the better choice. It has concentrated bond repair actives that address the structural damage bleaching creates. Soulfood delivers nourishment and softness but doesn't address bond damage. For hair that is both bleached and dry, The Kure Intense Mask covers both.
