Ask ModaDo I need The Wizard and a separate heat protectant, or does it do enough on its own?
Yes — The Wizard is sufficient for everyday blow-drying for most hair types. For very high-heat styling or colour-treated hair being ironed frequently, adding Blockade underneath gives extra thermal protection. But for everyday use, The Wizard alone handles the job.
The Wizard claims to detangle and heat protect — does it actually do both well?
Yes — it genuinely does both. The conditioning and film-forming agents detangle on wet or damp hair, and the thermal barrier actives protect during blow-drying. It's the product we most consistently recommend when a client wants to simplify their pre-style routine to one step.
Is The Wizard with silicones better than the Silicone-Free version?
No — they perform similarly. Silicones give a slightly silkier slip for detangling and a bit more shine. The Silicone-Free version gives a lighter, slightly less slick feel. Neither is universally better — it's a preference choice, not a performance gap.
Can I use The Wizard on dry hair before a flat iron?
Yes — The Wizard works on damp or dry hair before any heat tool. Apply lightly and allow a moment to absorb before using the iron — spraying directly before passing a tool through immediately reduces the protection benefit.
Will The Wizard make my fine hair feel heavy or coated?
No — if applied lightly. Use 1–2 sprays for fine hair and focus on mid-lengths and ends. Fine hair responds well to The Wizard because the detangling agents reduce mechanical damage from brushing, which matters significantly on fine strands.
