OI Hair Butter replaces OI Conditioner on the days you use it — it's more intensive, so using both in the same wash is unnecessary. Use OI Conditioner on your regular wash days and swap to OI Hair Butter once a week or as needed. Think of the Butter as your weekly reset and the Conditioner as your daily maintenance.
OI Hair Butter is best suited to medium, thick, coarse or dry hair. If you have fine hair, it may feel heavy — OI Conditioner is the better daily choice for fine hair needing softness and frizz control. If you have fine hair that's also very dry or colour-damaged and want to try the Butter, apply a smaller amount to the ends only and reduce the contact time to 2–3 minutes.
The formula. OI Hair Butter combines Roucou Oil, Shea Butter and Hydrolysed Wheat Proteins in a contact-time treatment designed to penetrate the cortex rather than just coat the surface. Most store-bought masks are primarily coating agents. The difference is whether the result lasts through the week or washes out after one day.
The 75ml is a starter or travel size. Because OI Hair Butter is used weekly rather than daily, the 250ml is a good first full-size purchase and will last several months for medium-length hair. The 1000ml is excellent value if you have thick or long hair or have already confirmed you love the product.
Yes — if your hair is very dry, coarse or chemically treated, daily use is fine. The formula isn't harmful with more frequent application. Most clients with thick or very dry hair use it two to three times per week. If you find your hair starts feeling heavy with frequent use, alternate with OI Conditioner on lighter wash days.
