Yes — daily use of any concentrated purple shampoo can deposit too much pigment and shift blonde hair ashy or grey. Use Nº.4P 1–2 times per week and alternate with Nº.4 on other wash days. That's the Moda-recommended protocol for maintaining tone without over-toning.
My highlights go brassy within 2 weeks of my colour appointment. Will Nº.4P actually maintain tone between visits?
Yes — Nº.4P's highly concentrated purple pigment formula is one of the more effective at-home toning shampoos available. Used consistently 1–2x per week, it significantly extends time between toning appointments. Pairing it with Nº.5P conditioner gives you toning at both steps for better coverage.
Does Nº.4P work on highlights, or just fully bleached hair?
Yes — Nº.4P works on any lightened or bleached sections, whether they're highlights, balayage, full bleach, or grey. It deposits neutralising purple pigment wherever the hair is porous and light enough to absorb it.
I have fine blonde hair that goes flat. Does Nº.4P weigh hair down?
No — Nº.4P is not specifically formulated for fine hair volume, but it doesn't have a heavy texture. For fine blonde hair where volume is a primary concern, alternating Nº.4P with Nº.4 FINE gives you toning on some wash days and volume support on others.
How long should I leave Nº.4P on for toning?
Yes — the longer it sits, the more pigment deposits. For light brass or as maintenance toning: 2–3 minutes. For more noticeable brass or cooler tone goals: 5–10 minutes. For very warm or orange-toned hair: work up to 15 minutes. Rinse and assess — build time gradually.
