Ask ModaMy hair is fine and Nº.5 makes it feel weighed down. What should I use instead?
No — Nº.5 is the standard moisture-focused conditioner and can weigh fine hair down. Nº.5 FINE is the right product: same OLAPLEX bond repair in a lightweight formula designed to condition fine hair without sacrificing volume.
Should I apply Nº.5 to my roots or just the ends?
No — apply from mid-lengths to ends only, at least two finger-widths from the root. Applying conditioner at the scalp deposits moisture where it's not needed and flattens hair at the root — even on thick hair. The hair shaft from mid-lengths to ends is where the moisture and frizz control is needed.
How long should I leave Nº.5 on?
Yes — 1–3 minutes is sufficient for the daily conditioning benefit. For additional moisture benefit, leaving it on for up to 5 minutes is appropriate. Unlike Nº.8 mask which is a weekly deep treatment, Nº.5 is a rinse-off conditioner designed for daily use.
Do I need both Nº.5 conditioner and Nº.6 leave-in, or do they do the same thing?
No — they work at different steps. Nº.5 is a rinse-out conditioner used in the shower. Nº.6 is a leave-in applied to damp hair after towel-drying, before heat styling. Nº.6 adds frizz control, moisture and heat protection that Nº.5 alone doesn't deliver.
I just started using OLAPLEX. Should I start with Nº.4 + Nº.5 or add Nº.3 straight away?
Yes — starting with Nº.4 + Nº.5 for the daily wash routine is a solid entry point. Most clients then add Nº.3 or Nº.3PLUS as the weekly pre-wash step once the wash routine is established. Build the system one step at a time rather than starting with everything at once.
