Yes — both contain OLAPLEX bond repair but the Rich Hydration Mask has a more intensive moisture and conditioning profile. It's designed for thick, dry, or coarse hair that needs more moisture than the standard Nº.8 delivers. If Nº.8 leaves your hair still feeling dry, this is the next step.
I have medium hair that is also colour-treated. Is Nº.8 or the Rich Hydration Mask right for me?
Yes — for medium colour-treated hair with normal moisture levels, Nº.8 is typically the right weekly mask. The Rich Hydration Mask is better suited to medium hair that is also heavily processed, very dry, or feels consistently thirsty after Nº.8. Assess after 3–4 weeks with Nº.8 first.
How long should I leave the Rich Hydration Mask on for maximum benefit?
Yes — minimum 10 minutes; 20–30 minutes under a shower cap for very dry or coarse hair. For overnight use on extremely dry hair, wrap hair under a cap and sleep in it. The richer formula benefits significantly from extended processing time.
My thick hair is also curly. Is the Rich Hydration Mask right for me?
Yes — thick, coarse curly hair is one of the primary use cases for the Rich Hydration Mask. Curly hair is structurally drier than straight hair because natural scalp oils travel less easily down the spiral shaft. Regular deep moisture treatment significantly improves curl definition and reduces frizz.
Do I use the Rich Hydration Mask on the same day as Nº.3?
Yes — Nº.3 or Nº.3PLUS pre-wash, followed by Nº.4 shampoo, then the Rich Hydration Mask in place of Nº.5. This combination gives both structural bond repair and intensive in-shower hydration in the same wash session.
