The Moda Team Review: The OI Routine to Start With

This is the trio we recommend when a client wants to start the OI routine properly. The shampoo deposits the first layer of Roucou Oil during the cleanse. The conditioner delivers the deep softness and frizz control through the conditioning window — always rinsed with cool water to seal the cuticle and lock the shine in. OI Oil seals everything after drying with a finishing polish that makes the hair look lit from inside. Each step builds on the previous one and the cumulative result is significantly better than any single product alone.

It is also our most recommended OI gift set — three products that tell a complete story and deliver a result that is immediately visible and tactile from the very first use. The Roucou Oil deposit builds with every subsequent wash, so the result keeps improving.

What's Included

  • Davines OI Shampoo — Sulfate-free Roucou Oil shampoo. Gently cleanses while depositing the first Roucou Oil layer. Builds the shine and softness foundation. Vegan.
  • Davines OI Conditioner — Roucou Oil conditioner for softness, shine and frizz control. Leave 3–5 minutes, rinse with cool water. Vegan.
  • Davines OI Oil — Roucou Oil finishing oil. Mirror-like shine and heat protection up to 230°C. Warm 2–3 drops between palms for five seconds and apply to damp or dry hair. Do not rinse out. Vegan.

How The Routine Works

  1. Apply OI Shampoo to scalp and roots — allow lather to rinse through lengths, rinse.
  2. Apply OI Conditioner to mid-lengths and ends — leave 3–5 minutes, rinse with cool water.
  3. Towel-dry gently. Warm 2–3 drops of OI Oil between palms for five seconds.
  4. Apply OI Oil to damp mid-lengths and ends — do not rinse out. Blow-dry or air-dry.

Moda Pro Tip

The cool-water conditioner rinse and the five-second palm warm-up for the oil are the two technique details that make the biggest difference to the OI result. The cool rinse locks the Roucou Oil inside the cuticle; the warm-up emulsifies the oil so it distributes evenly across the whole head with just 2–3 drops.

The Trio is the right starting point for most people. It covers the three essential steps and gives you a clear baseline for what OI does for your hair. Once you have used the Trio and know it works for you, adding OI All In One Milk as a pre-blowdry leave-in is the natural fourth step.
Yes — the Trio is priced below the combined individual retail price for the same three products. It is also a convenient single order if you are starting OI for the first time and want to try the complete cleanse-condition-finish system without committing to multiple separate purchases.
Yes — the OI Trio works well as a gift for anyone who loves Davines or has not yet tried OI. It covers the essential system in a single package. If the recipient has specific hair concerns beyond shine and softness — such as colour protection or intensive repair — let us know and we can suggest the most fitting combination from our Davines range.
At standard amounts, the 280ml Shampoo gives approximately 14–19 washes, the 250ml Conditioner approximately 10–17 washes, and the 135ml OI Oil six months to a year of daily finishing use. Shampoo and conditioner will run out before the oil for most people — the oil lasts considerably longer per application.
