Ask ModaHow is the SU Hair Mask different from using my regular conditioner in summer?
Yes — they work at different depths. A rinse-off conditioner smooths the cuticle in 30–60 seconds. The SU Hair Mask penetrates with five minutes of contact time and the Bitter Orange Extract actively restores moisture and antioxidant protection to hair that has been depleted by UV, chlorine, or salt water. A conditioner maintains; the mask repairs.
Can the SU Hair Mask help protect my colour from fading in the sun?
Yes — the Bitter Orange Extract in the 2025 SU Hair Mask is high in flavonoids and antioxidants that neutralise UV-caused free radicals in the hair fibre. This provides meaningful protection against the oxidation process that causes colour fade during sun exposure. It won't completely prevent fading from extended outdoor time, but consistent use significantly slows the rate compared to no protection.
My hair doesn't feel particularly damaged — do I still need this if I swim regularly?
Yes — chlorine and salt water raise and erode the cuticle progressively, and the cumulative effect builds before it becomes visible as damage. A weekly mask during swimming season maintains moisture and cuticle integrity ahead of the point where hair starts to look and feel compromised.
Should I use this every wash, or is once a week enough?
Yes — once a week is the standard recommendation for a healthy hair type with seasonal exposure. On non-mask wash days, use SU Hair Milk as a leave-in for daily UV protection between deeper treatments. For heavily processed or bleached hair, twice a week is appropriate.
